Gay Rochester Online was introduced in 1996 to provide information about local businesses, services and happenings in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex community. It was designed to facilitate connecting community members together for many reasons including social, political, and support.
GayRochester.Com has gone through four versions of design. The current site design was introduced in 2004 when "Gay Rochester Online" was renamed to GayRochester.Com. Initially, content was limited to links to community resources, announcements and pride photos. As GayRochester.Com has grown, we have introduced a full-featured online events calendar, as well as personal and classified ads and profiles. Over the years, the number of GayRochester.Com members has grown into the thousands.
With over one million visits annually, GayRochester.Com is the most visited GLBTQI website focused on the Rochester community. You can see for yourself how active our members are by simply browsing through our huge collection of member profiles. We also have over 5000 photos from local events. The site has had national exposure through well known print publications such as the Advocate, Passport magazine, and the Gay Yellowpages. In addition, we have been a Presenting Sponsor of the ImageOut Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival since 2001.
This year GayRochester.Com has taken a major step forward in its evolution. We have begun to invest additional resources in the business and have formed a corporation. Our goal is to provide additional content and services and expand membership.
